Key Finding
This study isolated a thermophilic sulfate-reducing Thermodesulfovibrio bacterium from a Japanese terrestrial hot spring and demonstrated nitrogen-fixing activity under the tested growth conditions. The work expands understanding of nitrogen metabolism in thermophilic anaerobes and provides an experimentally characterized strain for ecological and physiological investigation.
